Gimme A Fucking Break. I Mean Even With The Increasingly Low Standards Of The Guardian And The Church Of England Combined, This Is Pretty Fucking Lame.

The archbishop of Canterbury has warned that England risks a repeat of the riots that spread across England this summer unless the government and civil society do more to “rescue those who think they have nothing to lose”.

And he read all about it in this illuminated manuscript from the 13th century. Nice one.

And another thing! Quit pretending that this gives us the unvarnished motivations behind the riots. The fact they all faced the courts *before* being interviewed means that they’ve already had the opportunity to creative a favorable narrative of events for official consumption; on several occasions no less. This *could* be seen as another case of that. No kidding the story presented is one of marginalized youth systematically targeted by the Police and neglected by the government. It would be interesting to see how these stories were compared with what they told the courts. The research seems to rest on the silly assumption that the most teched-up and media-savvy generation are unaware of the various narratives circulating in the days and weeks after the events and instead, like forest-dwelling innocents, present pure narratives for the researchers to contextualize. *I’m not saying it’s not like that*, I dislike the police almost as much as my Kiwi Brony Furious Deane, but at least be a little professional about your fucking data because you’re not doing any one any favours. The Guardians hemorrhaging money for a reason and the Libyan School of Economics has enough problems without passing off dodgy research that even your obvious key demographic – social work students – could drive a stolen dumptruck through.

  1. And I ashk: Why thish naivety? Ish this global reflexivization of interpretation not preshisely what St. Ž has been warning ush about all these years? Ash for example in the lasht year of the lasht shcentury: “What happens in psychoanalyti treatment is strictly homologous to the response of the neo-Nazi skinhead who, when he is really pressed for the reasons for his violence, suddenly starts to talk like social workers, sociologists and social psychologists, quoting diminished social mobility, rising insecurity, the disintegration of paternal authority, lack of maternal love in his early childhood …” … YOU JUSTIFY / THOSE WHO DIED …

  2. and what’s Rowan doing with a 13thC illuminated manuscript when a proper examination of the current situation surely requires study of Lenin’s prison notebooks?

    • Lenin wrote no prison notebooks – that was Gramsci. But Lenin did touch his toes every evening for exercise, and to get warm for bed, while in prison in 1897.

      • Deane

Still, knowledge of the present situation requires that we study Lenin’s prison notebooks. The existence of such is surely an incidental matter.

Mr Berlusconi Youth is already onto Lenin’s prison notebooks (see excerpt below), which were indeed notebooks written while in prison during the fin de siècle, smuggled out and published, under pseudenym, under the title, The Decelopment of Capitalism in Russia.

I can scarcely believe, Mr Moustache, that you have not consulted Lenin’s original prison notebooks, a omission which appears to this sober and virtuous mind to constitute a dereliction of scholarly duties.

      • Enough squabbling you children. This is worse than when my hairy Uncle Rowan invites the Africans to dinner and they start arguing with the gays. Can’t you just shut up and let me enjoy my pudding while I watch the stream of The Tebow?

  3. They echo the precise line the Guardian was running right through the riots, but that simply confirms the correctness of the Guardian’s initial analysis and the accuracy of their questionnaire which also reflected the evidently accurate angle the paper was running. This should not, however, mitigate against the need “For a People’s Inquiry Into the Summer Riots”. My recommendation would be something along the lines of the Women’s International Democratic Federation investigation into the use of chemical weapons by the United Nations forces during the Korean War. Perhaps some of the original participants in that fact-finding mission could be recruited?

Seriously though; a study of Lenin’s prison writings teaches us that “The average hot-house vegetable grower had to put at least 300 rubles into the “business.” Of the 74 peasants for whom house-to-house returns are given, 41 possess purchased land, and as many rent land, there is an average of 2.2 horses per peasant. It is clear from this that the hot-house vegetable industry is only within the reach of members of the peasant bourgeoisie.”

This is clearly an exposition on Isaiah 65 and Matthew 13, obviously adapted from a sermon the Desire Of Men gave in the prison chapel.

Moreover, “Those who say that the middle-peasant youth should be recruited into the Party are correct.”
